Eva María is a Dance Artist and a YA Registered Yoga Teacher based between El Paso, Texas and London, where she has continued her dance and yoga practice along with teaching Ashtanga Vinyasa based yoga classes and dance courses on demand. She also conducts workshops in the US and Mexico in Contemporary Ballet, Choreography and Improvisation, Yoga for Dancers, and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. She is currently offering a contemporary ballet class in residency at El Paso Ballet Theatre and private dance and yoga sessions on request while based in El Paso, TX.
Her classes and courses are informed with a rich and varied movement practice background and the joy of combining mindful breath with movement and stillness. She began her classical ballet training with Ingeborg Heuser and obtained a BM in Ballet Performance from UTEP in 2001. She was involved in dancing, teaching, choreographing and directing individually and in collaboration with several companies/ensembles, dance schools and dance projects in the community of Juarez/El Paso from 1995 to 2008. In 2009, she obtained a Graduate Diploma in Dance Studies focusing in Contemporary Dance, Choreography and Choreological Studies from Trinity Laban in London, where she also studied Pilates and yoga. Eva María has complemented her ballet and contemporary dance training in The Netherlands during 2009 at Henny Jurriëns Foundation in Amsterdam and the Holland Dance Festival professional workshops in The Hague. She continued her dance practice in London from 2010 to 2015 at Greenwich Dance Agency, Pineapple Studios, Danceworks and Trinity Laban.
She has practiced hatha and vinyasa yoga since 2008 and practiced Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga with Jess Glenny in Greenwich, London from 2010 to 2015. While in London, she practiced with several Ashtanga Vinyasa teachers at Triyoga such as David Swenson, David Williams, Tim Miller, Danny Paradise and John Scott. Eva María has completed an Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series Teacher Training with David Swenson in November 2011 and a YA 200 Hour yoga teacher training in Vinyasa Flow with YogaLondon in March 2012. She has been teaching yoga since November 2011. She has 2-year experience as a Mysore Assistant with teacher Jess Glenny in her Mysore style classes in Greenwich, London and participated in her Yoga Teacher Mentor Group during 2013 and 2014. Most recently, she has practiced at Stillpoint Yoga London with Scott Johnson and Andy Gill and with guest teacher Amynthas Franco in El Paso, Texas while relocating back to El Paso. She is truly grateful to all her dance and yoga teachers and especially Ingeborg Heuser and Jess Glenny for their inspiration, teaching and mentoring but most of all for introducing her to the two passions and practices that carry and enrich her life, Dance and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
